چکیده

Wireless sensor networks inherit the merits of both wireless communications and distributed processing, and therefore are expected to be widely used in many civil and military applications. To successfully perform the assigned sensing tasks, the deployed sensors must both form a connected network through multi-hop wireless communication, and cover the entire working region or some specific locations. Therefore, how to deploy a wireless sensor network to provide connected coverage becomes a critical research issue. Most of the existing work [1], [2] on the connected coverage problem typically assumes omnidirectional sensors with disk-like sensing range. However, in real applications, certain sensors may only possess limited sensing range, such as sector (or directional) sensing range, due to equipment constraints or environmental impairments. In this work, we investigate how to efficiently deploy directional sensors to form connected networks to cover point-locations or the entire target region. To our best knowledge, this is the first effort to address such problems.

Representing a Model for Improving Connectivity and Power Dissipation in Wireless Networks Using Mobile Sensors

Wireless sensor networks are often located in areas where access to them is difficult or dangerous. Today, in wireless sensor networks, cluster-based routing protocols by dividing sensor nodes into distinct clusters and selecting local head-clusters to combine and send information of each cluster to the base station and balanced energy consumption by network nodes, get the best performance ...

ENERGY AWARE DISTRIBUTED PARTITIONING DETECTION AND CONNECTIVITY RESTORATION ALGORITHM IN WIRELESS SENSOR NETWORKS

Mobile sensor networks rely heavily on inter-sensor connectivity for collection of data. Nodes in these networks monitor different regions of an area of interest and collectively present a global overview of some monitored activities or phenomena. A failure of a sensor leads to loss of connectivity and may cause partitioning of the network into disjoint segments. A number of approaches have be...

Three Dimensional Localization of an Unknown Target Using Two Heterogeneous Sensors

Heterogeneous wireless sensor networks consist of some different types of sensor nodes deployed in a particular area. Different sensor types can measure different quantity of a source and using the combination of different measurement techniques, the minimum number of necessary sensors is reduced in localization problems. In this paper, we focus on the single source localization in a heterogene...
